Lecturers, students, and alumni can work professionally in the field of history supported by historical-skill-based curriculum, improvement of lecturers in research and teaching, and strengthening of alumni network.<\/p>

The target is to produce graduates who are able to:<\/p>

  1. Comprehend and master basic concept of history as well as theory and methodology of historical research.<\/li>
  2. Comprehend and master source language (Dutch and English) for historical research, especially city history and maritime studies.<\/li>
  3. Conduct historical research by using historicak methodology principles.<\/li>
  4. Dedicate researches and studies\u2019 results to the society.<\/li>
  5. Have an open mind, creativity, responsiveness to recent changes and developments in history.<\/li><\/ol>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

    Achievement Strategies<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
    \n\t\t\t\t
    \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

    The teaching and learning process in the Study Program of History is carried out in the programmed Semester Credit System (SKS) with the required total credit of a minimum of 144 sks and a maximum of 160 sks to obtain. The curriculum is elaborated in an assortment of courses that is divided into two course groups, namely (1) compulsory course and (2) selective course. Such credit system is applied in order to allow more opportunities for students in planning their study in each semester. The implementation of education system and teaching methods performed in general manner is divided into the following:<\/p>

    1. Face-to-face lecture. The method uses dialogues with open and democratic communication. Face-to-face course can be in the form of talk, discussion, presentation, consultation, and group study. This kind of lecture aims to deepen concept, theory, and methodology and method in History. There is also a lecture that combines tutorial lecture in the class and practice such as Dutch Language course, Method and Practice of Historical Research, Local History, Museology, Archival, and Oral History. Such concept is aimed to allow students to acquire theoretical and practical insights that will allow them to do historical researches with ease. The learning uses various techniques and learning tools such as audio-visual tools, white board, PowerPoint slides supported by LCD projector, and e-learning. The learning process is also supported by multimedia infrastructure and internet access.<\/li>
    2. General lecture. It is primarily aimed to freshmen to instill initial and general understanding on the upcoming studies in Study Program of History. The lecture brings up themes of Indonesian Historiography and General Historiography by inviting guest lecturer from another university in Indonesia and university abroad. This general lecture is arranged in a minimum of once per semester.<\/li>
    3. Field Practice (PKL). This method is carried out under the guidance of lecturer of certain shceduled course in purpose of applying concept and theory students learned in class. Such method is developed as a medium of training and going deep for students so that they are able to map issues and find solutions.<\/li>
    4. Seminar. There are two seminar models, namely seminar as a course for thesis preparation and seminar that discusses themes of history outside the courses. Seminar as a course serves as a facility for student training and learning on building opinions, critical thinking, and analysis expressed in a scientific work. They will present their initial result of research before stepping into thesis stage. Meanwhile, the other kind of seminar is generally used to update concept, theory, and recent development in historiography (writing of history). The speaker could be a lecturer, alumnus, stakeholder, practitioner, and foreign academician.<\/li>
    5. Workshop. This activity is executed in order to develop students\u2019 skill in conducting research of history writing as well as soft skills related to skills of getting into the professional world. Soft skill and professional skill become significant points in the arrangement of the workshop as a strategy for academic vision and market signal.<\/li>
    6. Student Exchange. This activity provides experience for the students to study in university outside Indonesia to obtain enrichment, insight improvement, and building network in international level. Every year, students of History join student exchange program abroad. Additionally, foreign students also participate in study exchange to the Study Program of History Universitas Airlangga.<\/li>
    7. As the final phase academic study, students are obliged to compose a bachelor thesis under guidance of a thesis advisor, preceded by a Proposal Seminar. Until today, students\u2019 bachelor thesis is still a written scientific work. However, the Study Program of History plans to assign students to make documentary video-film which will be published via various media to make contribution to the society. It will also provide suggestions to the policy makers on the importance of history in the decision or policy making.<\/li><\/ol>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
