EXAM SYSTEM

Exam System

The purpose of the exam is:

  • To assess whether the student has understood or mastered the material presented in the course;
  • Grouping students into categories based on their abilities with university-defined criteria with letter grade A, AB, B, BC, C, D, and E.

Exams can be conducted in a variety of ways, such as written exams, oral exams, exams in seminars / seminars, exams in the form of assignments, and practicum.

Type of Exam

Types of exams during lectures include exam courses and thesis exams.

Course Exam

The course test is the measurement of the result of the learning process for 1 (one) semester conducted in writing / oral / scheduled structured tasks in accordance with the Academic Calendar of the Universitas Airlangga Faculty of Humanities.

Thesis examination

Thesis is a final project that provides students with learning experiences to create written scientific papers, by applying attitude, way of thinking, and scientific method of solving scientific problems through research, able to present and maintain the results in writing and orally in order to complete the study load for earned a bachelor’s degree.

Oral test of the thesis is given by a team of examiners to the students about abstract, content, research methods, and thesis writing techniques, as well as other scientific fields related to the content of the thesis.Exams are held after the approval of the head of the study program. The execution of the exam is regulated by observing the Thesis Writing Guide and Scientific Article.

Exam Requirements

The exam requirements include exam courses and theses. The requirements of each exam are as follows.

Course Exam

Students are allowed to take the course test after attending at least 75% attendance in the course. The Dean may allow students who are not allowed to take the exam to take the exam on the following grounds:

    • Illness, as evidenced by a doctor’s note;
    • is conducting curricular activities off-campus, as evidenced by a certificate from the dean / rector;
    • is conducting extracurricular activities, as evidenced by a certificate from the dean / rector•
    • Have a particular need for the approval of the dean / head of the faculty.

Thesis examination

Thesis examination can be held after students complete the writing of the thesis in accordance with Thesis Writing Guidelines and Scientific Articles and meet the requirements as follows:

    • have completed a minimum of 110 credits with IPK ³ 2.0 without E;
    • no more than 20% of the total credits taken by D value;
    • submit four copies of the thesis to the Academic Subdivision at the latest 7 (seven) days prior to the day / date of the exam set by the study program (see Thesis Writing Guide and Scientific Article).
    • In the English Literature Program, students have obtained a minimum 550 English Language Proficiency Test (ELPT)
    • In the Japanese Literature Studies Program, students have passed the Japanese Language Proficiency Test at least equivalent to N3 (three).
